This week we have been integrating pathfinding into the game, this is the one I had worked on for my trimester one project thus It was working well with our project & was easy to integrate but it is not being used by the behavior trees yet thus we are not going to show this mechanic for our presentation due in a few days.
We have also managed to get our new poster for the game which looks pretty good and reflects on the game design we implemented into our game. We don’t know if the new poster will make it or not but we have high hopes for it . We also have a logo for the game which can be used as the icon for our final build for showcase .
We had a few setbacks during integration where some of the group members worked in the same scene & commits to it leading to our scene for the demo looking like Frankenstein’s monster although we were able to fix most the changes the day before the presentation & because we had version controls and manual backups we were only setback by a few hours.
I have also begun work on making the health, stamina & radiation indicators on the UI for the game which seem to be coming all right although I did have to look up a tutorial to gain an understanding of how to approach the mechanic, although I did follow it to an extent but changed the way it was done to better suit the needs of the project. The link for the tutorial is linked below & I would recommend you watch it to understand how to create health bars as I have learned a lot from them. (Inscope/YouTube, 2016).
I have also been working on fixing the bow & arrow models as some of the objects were rotated in world space which was fixed via code but lead to problems in the mechanic which was pointed by our facilitator wherein the arrows were being fired with a ninety-degree rotation. Apart from fixing that bug, it was also recommended by our facilitator to destroy the arrows being created as an optimization to the game as there are currently no limits on the arrow being fired.
For the rest of the week, I am trying to understand how mesh deformation works which looks pretty complicated right now.
Also, we have asked an animator to help us for the ax animation as the one that we have is something very basic & does not have the right feel that we are looking for in our game.
Asked animator to help with ax animation
